B&O Centenary Bronze Medal
New Listing
Designer: Hans Schuler Sr., American, born Germany, 1874-1951
SOLD B&O Centenary Bronze Medal Price: $125.00
Still kept in it's original presentation case, the medal is in excellent condition. The Smithsonian American Art Museum has a medal on display. Easel shown - not included.
The reverse is B&O's first steam engine, Peter Cooper's Tom Thumb. Around this is "The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company 1827 - 1927."
The obverse depicts a then modern Steam Engine coming through a mountain pass, guided by "the Spirit of Transportation." Around this is "One Hundred Years Safety Strength Speed."
On February 28, 1827, the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad became the first U.S. railway chartered for the commercial transportation of freight and passengers. Investors hoped that a railroad would allow Baltimore, the second largest U.S. city at that time, to successfully compete with New York for western trade.

Railroad Dwarf Signals
L&W Systems Three Tier Light Dwarf Signal
Item 3: Repair/Servicing Track Blue Light
For all the serious railroad enthusiast's and large scale hobbyist's, here is the ultimate addition for your train set. For sale is an original "L&W Signal Systems" three tier dwarf signal. As you can see in the pictures, each semaphore light is stacked on top of one another. All three lights (2 blue & 1 yellow) can be displayed at one time, or lit according to your preference. Each individual light is versitle and can be postioned to face the direction of your choice. This is the original position (blue over yellow and a single blue light on the opposite side), as it was utilized on the servicing tracks of the Burlington Northern Railroad. The heavy duty aluminum (will not rust) stand when utilized on the railroad, is buried into the ground. The stand is 2', the overall height from top to bottom is 4' 1/ 2".
The pot signal has been personally customized, it has a main kill switch and a individual (toggle) flip switch, for each light. Shown resting on the top of the stand, the signal will swivel to your desired position. Each light has it's own wiring closet and an original Raco lock (only one Raco lock is stamped "BN") to secure the closet door. The original railroad transformer converts the 120v power source to 12v. Just like on the railroad, as long as you have electricity, this dwarf light will display its colors indefinitely. This signal is not a replica and all parts except power cord and flip switches are original equipment.
In my travels searching for railroad relics, I have seen numerous styles of Railroad Signals such as, high mast, dwarfs, arm signal, pole, etc., for sale, though they are never operable. Also, if a person does contemplate a possible purchase, the buyer is left to wonder if all the internal parts are still attached. Here you have a wonderful opportunity to purchase an excellent railroad relic in sound working order. In literally using the term relic to describe this item, the signal is from the mid 1950's. For now, when it sells, there most likely will never be another like it offered again. Interested persons, please email me @dennis@railrelicstoday.com for more information.

Safetran Systems Dwarf Signal
Item 5: Safetran Systems single light dwarf signal
For sale is an original "Safetran Systems" single light dwarf signal, known on the railroad as a "pot signal." Signal light has been personally customized. The dwarf has three individual toggle switches for the different color lights of green, yellow and red. When the signal is utilized on a railroad, the 4 foot stand is buried into the ground and, just like a signal maintainer, the light comes with the original Raco lock for the wiring closet. Shown resting on the top of the stand, the signal will swivel to your desired position. The original railroad transformer converts the 120v power source to 12v. This signal is not a replica and all parts except power cord and flip switches are original equipment. In my travels searching for railroad relics, I have seen signals for sale, though they are never operable. Also, if a person does contemplate a possible purchase, the buyer is left to wonder if all the internal parts are still attached. Here you have a wonderful opportunity to purchase an excellent railroad relic in sound working order.
Currently, this dwarf signal, like the one above, is possible due to salvaged parts. Once it sells, there most likely will never be another like it again. Interested persons, please email me @dennis@railrelicstoday.com for more information.

Louisville & Nashville Railroad
Item 22: L&N Fat Boy Glass Globe Price: $145.00 $125.00
For sale is a rare-clear glass lantern globe off the Louisville & Nashville Railroad. Don't let the looks of it fool you; once cradled in its' cage, it's one handsome baby! The globe is compatible with an Adams & Westlake Reliable™ or Armspear Steel Guard™ lantern cages to name a few. The initials "L&N RR" are embossed on the globe. The globe is in good shape, it has the normal heat pot marks and rim residue but no major cracks or holes. Once the globe is cradled in the lantern cage, the residue stains will not show. Also, the globe has a smoky yellow patina, and when lantern wick is lighted, emits a warm-even glow. Even though I did not see a company trademark, I still believe this globe to be an original L&N. Note: Among the many former railroads, the L&N was somewhat of an outlier when purchasing equipment. Besides ordering from Adlake and other railroad suppliers, the L&N would sometimes turn to companies from their HQ state of Kentucky. The Modern Industries Company is one. A great looking relic that's searching for a good home!

Once the globe sits in the cage, the mark will not be that noticeable, if at all. Overall, the globe is in decent shape, and has many more years of glow life.

1950's Post Cereal
Complete Set of 28 Railroad Tin Heralds
Last complete set
Item 48: Complete Set of 28 Railroad Heralds Price: $150.00
I was still in diapers when the Post Cereal Company promoted giving away tin railroad heralds. As shown in the pictures, there are 28 railroad heralds in a complete set. When available on Ebay, the average price is between $9.99 - $14.99 per tin herald, most of the time, not including delivery. The metal heralds are in good shape and each have two pre-drilled holes for wall display. The heralds are considered antiques and rightfully so. Although you can find individual emblems on the internet, whole sets are hard to come by. A great set to decorate the wall of your key or lock collection.

Steam Locomotive No. 844 is the last steam locomotive built for Union Pacific Railroad. It was delivered in 1944. A high-speed passenger engine, it pulled such widely known trains as the Overland Limited, Los Angeles Limited, Portland Rose and Challenger. Many people know the engine as the No. 8444, since an extra "4" was added to its number in 1962 to distinguish it from a diesel numbered in the 800 series. The steam engine regained its rightful number in June 1989, after the diesel was retired.
